about LISA MORALES
Lisa Morales is a veteran Texas-based singer-songwriter whose roots run deep in the borderlands of Tucson and the musical traditions of her Mexican-American family. From her early days singing mariachi with her sister Roberta to her acclaimed run with the genre-blending Sisters Morales, Lisa has always drawn power from the intersection of cultures, emotions, and languages. Her music weaves folk, rock, country, and Latin influences into a sound that’s as intimate as it is expansive — delivered in English, Spanish, and often both at once.
Her latest album Sonora (Luna Records, 2024) is her most personal and expansive work yet — a celebration of resilience, memory, and identity. Featuring collaborations with artists like Rodney Crowell, Tish Hinojosa, JoJo Garza (of Los Lonely Boys), and her late sister Roberta, the record blends emotional weight with melodic grace. Tracks like “Hermanitas in the Rain” and “It’s a Common Thing” reflect both loss and legacy, with Lisa’s son Thomas Spencer joining her to carry the family tradition forward.
With a voice that’s equal parts strength and vulnerability, Morales continues to carve her own genre-defying path — defining "Spanglish Americana" with artistry, heart, and a deep reverence for where she comes from and where she's going.
